MORTUARY PREP TABLE SERVICE & REPAIR
INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE & REPAIR FOR FERNO AND OTHER PREPARATION-ROOM TABLES
PREP TABLE SERVICE & MAINTENANCE
Cantrell's provides service and repair for mortuary prep tables, embalming tables, preparation tables, and hydraulic operating tables, including FERNO 101-H equipment.
Hydraulic prep tables are mechanically simple compared with embalming machines or aspirators, but they still depend on a combination of hydraulic lift components, foot-control linkage, casters, locks, frame hardware, and adjustment points working together properly. Problems with raising, lowering, movement, or stability can often be traced to wear, misadjustment, damaged hardware, or serviceable hydraulic components.
Cantrell’s inspects the complete table, identifies the cause of the problem, and repairs or adjusts serviceable components whenever practical rather than automatically recommending replacement of the entire table.

PREP TABLES WE SERVICE
FERNO 101-H HYDRAULIC TABLE SERVICE
The FERNO 101-H is one of the most common hydraulic preparation tables found in funeral homes, which also makes it one of the prep-table models Cantrell’s services most frequently.
Although the 101-H is a relatively straightforward mechanical and hydraulic design, normal use and wear can eventually lead to problems with the hydraulic lift system, release mechanisms, tabletop stability, wheel locks, pedals, linkage, and related mechanical components.
Some problems are caused by adjustment or loose hardware, while others indicate worn or failing components that require repair or replacement.
COMMON FERNO 101-H PROBLEMS
TABLETOP LOOSE OR WOBBLY
Mounting hardware and related components can loosen over time, allowing unwanted movement in the tabletop.
TABLETOP DROPPING OR LOSING HEIGHT
One end of the table (head end) may slowly lower overnight or during use instead of remaining at its selected height.
BRAKES NOT LOCKING PROPERLY
The wheel-locking mechanism may stop properly engaging or holding the table securely.
TABLE WILL RAISE BUT WILL NOT RELEASE
The hydraulic system may pump the table upward normally while the release pedal produces little or no response when attempting to lower it.
These issues are not unique to the FERNO 101-H. Similar problems can occur across many hydraulic preparation and embalming tables, including loss of height, loose or unstable tabletops, brake or locking problems, and release mechanisms that no longer operate correctly.
The exact cause can vary by manufacturer and table design, which is why Cantrell’s evaluates the complete hydraulic and mechanical system before determining the appropriate repair
REAL FERNO 101-H SERVICE
BEFORE — BRAKES NOT LOCKING
The Ferno 101-H wheel-locking mechanism was no longer properly engaging and securing the table.
AFTER— BRAKE MECHANISM ADJUSTED
After inspection and adjustment of the brake and linkage system, the locking mechanism was restored to proper operation..
This repair shows how a prep-table brake problem may be caused by adjustment within the mechanical locking system rather than requiring replacement of the complete assembly. The exact cause can vary by table condition and component wear.
OTHER PREP TABLES WE SERVICE
Cantrell’s service is not limited to the FERNO 101-H. We also inspect and service other mortuary preparation and embalming tables, including older, less-common, and unbranded hydraulic table designs.
Parts availability can vary significantly between manufacturers and older models. Some tables have extensive replacement-part support, while others may have only a limited number of components still available. Because of this, each table is evaluated individually based on its design, condition, existing components, and available repair options.
When replacement parts remain available — or when an existing component can be properly serviced or adjusted — Cantrell’s works to keep the table operating safely and reliably rather than automatically recommending complete replacement.
Cantrell’s also services non-hydraulic preparation tables, including commonly used mechanical models such as the FERNO Model 103, with service available for ratchet mechanisms, wheels, locks, hardware, and other repairable components.
REQUEST PREP TABLE SERVICE?
If your prep table is dropping, wobbling, difficult to raise or lower, no longer locking securely, or simply not operating the way it should, Cantrell's can inspect the hydraulic and mechanical systems and determine the appropriate repair.
If you are unsure of the manufacturer or model, send us photos or video of the table and the problem you are experiencing.
One-time service and scheduled preventative maintenance available.
