REAL EQUIPMENT. REAL RESULTS.

FROM THE FIELD.

The examples below come from actual funeral home and cemetery equipment inspected, serviced, and repaired by Cantrell's. They show the kinds of wear, misadjustments, and developing problems that can be identified before they become larger failures or unexpected downtime.

All photos shown are from actual Cantrell's service work.

ACTUAL SERVICE EXAMPLE

Worn Bronze Worm Gear

Caught before failure.

During a first preventative maintenance check, severe internal gear wear was found after the customer reported only a slight catch during lowering. The worn component was replaced before complete failure.

broken lowering device bronze gear

FOUND

Severe internal wear was discovered during preventative maintenance.

CORRECTED

The worn bronze gear was replaced before complete failure.

RESULT

The lowering device remained operational and an unexpected breakdown was avoided.

ACTUAL SERVICE EXAMPLE

Pump Wear Identified

Before loss of operation.

During preventative maintenance on a Duotronic embalming machine, pump wear and leakage were found after the customer reported only a slight reduction in pressure and flow. The pump was replaced before complete failure could leave the machine inoperable.

leaking embalming machine pump

FOUND

Pump wear and leakage were identified after only a slight loss of pressure and flow.

CORRECTED

The worn pump was replaced before the machine became inoperable.

RESULT

Normal pressure and flow were restored without an unexpected equipment shutdown.

WHY PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE MATTERS

WHEN PROBLEMS AREN'T CAUGHT IN TIME

Equipment problems do not always give obvious warning signs before failure. Internal wear, loose components, improper adjustments, and damaged parts can continue to progress even while equipment still appears to be operating normally. By the time the problem becomes obvious, the result may be unexpected downtime, emergency repair, or equipment failure when it is needed most.

lack of obvious symptoms does not always mean the equipment is operating properly, adjusted correctly, or ready for service.

Corroded Porti-Boy embalming machine motor during on-site service

Pump Leak That Became Motor Damage

This embalming machine's pump leaked for an extended period. Embalming chemicals sat against the motor housing until they ate through it, turning what could have been a pump replacement into a pump-and-motor replacement.

Damaged Frigid Imperial lowering device due to water intrusion

Water Intrusion and Corrosion Damage

This lowering device was stored improperly, allowing water intrusion that led to bearing failure and internal corrosion. Proper storage and routine maintenance could have prevented this damage.

Failed Worm Helical Gear, Governor Assembly and Bearing for worm shaft

Gear Failure From Lack of Maintenance

These lowering device gears failed due to corrosion and lack of maintenance. Routine inspection and preventative service could have identified the wear before failure occurred.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE GOES BEYOND NORMAL WEAR

Preventative maintenance is not simply about replacing components once they become worn. Normal wear is only part of the picture.

Improper storage, water intrusion, leaks, corrosion, loose components, poor adjustment, lack of lubrication, and other developing conditions can accelerate wear and create failures of their own.

Routine inspection gives those issues a chance to be identified and corrected early – before a relatively small problem damages additional components, takes equipment out of service, or turns into a more expensive repair.

The goal is not to just repair what has worn out. It is to identify what is causing the wear, correct it early, and help prevent the next failure.

DON'T WAIT FOR A FAILURE TO REVEAL THE PROBLEM.

Whether your equipment needs a one-time service or repair, scheduled preventative maintenance, or a long-term maintenance program, Cantrell's can help determine the right service approach for your operation.
